Neuroscience has proven that the decision-making ability of the brain is finite and the ability of the brain to make decisions within the day will eventually be depleted with constant use. This ‘Decision-Making Fatigue’ has 2 important consequences for senior managers: a) the loss of their ability to trust people and therefore build strong relationships but also b) the loss of their ability to address important decisions after the battery depletion. In order to avoid these consequences, you may top-up the size of your battery using the following 7 tricks :
- Sleep: even short naps anywhere will work
- Maintain energy : add glucose to your bloodstream through frequent healthy snacks
- Exercise: Take short breaks of mild body-exercise
- Meditate: Take 5′ per day to access your own way of feeling motivated and believing on your limitless willpower
- Stay positive to others : Frequently give constructive feedback so as to provoke others’ positive feedback to you, thus revitalizing your own energy.
- Delegate : Practice delegating all simple decisions at work or at home.
- Put on hold: any decisions when you feel emotional
