10 ‘Uncorporate’ Steps for finding your ‘Blue Ocean’.

 1. Start from your own passions. Forget about customers, research, competitors, market gaps.

2. Think about a ‘dream’ that your passion would fulfill. Something that no person enjoys in a certain way. Focus on the why and the what, forget about the how.

3. Connect the dots I: What should be the specifics of the offering that will support its uniqueness?

4. How can people with similar passions uniquely be benefited by this offering? Adjust accordingly.

5. Check out your ocean: Are there any others providing similar offerings ? Adjust accordingly or abort.

6. Connect the dots II: How many people will care ? Where and how can you find them? What are the key things you need to do to pull this through?

7. Final own-check. How passionate do you feel about your offering ? How can your idea presentation be extraordinary, uniquely based on this passion ?

8. Present your idea to a small sample of your target group. How much ‘sparkle’ is there in their eyes? What could you refine to make this sparkle shinier?

9. Present your idea to your key stakeholders. Does their feedback alter the core of your idea? Is it still in a ‘blue ocean’?

10. Go for it or abort and try again.
