We saw that when we want to change something in ourselves, (moving from A to B)it is not effective when we focus in the current situation trying to ‘correct’ it or ‘improve’ it. To activate the Q-mind, the part of the Mind which helps us achieve our goals, we need to know the 1st Key which is :
Start from point B!
Meaning, we should accurately define our destination first! What exactly we want to become, where exactly we want to go. And use this ‘picture’ as our guide, to figure out what we need to do to get there. Therefore, instead of being pulled back by the magnet of ‘Habit’, we are pulled forward by the magnet of ‘Potential’, i.e the image of what we can become. Instead of giving an unconscious ‘command’ to our mind to ‘go back to the problem’, we give it a direct, positive command to move forward.
There are 2 prerequisites though, that can make this 1st key become really effective:
The first is that we have defined with absolute clarity and precision the ‘point B’. This alone is an ‘art’, a skill that can be taught and trained.
The second is that the definition of ‘point B’ is not merely a thought, a wish or an expression of a simple desire. The clarity and precision of point B has to combine ‘the brain with the heart and the gut’. Meaning that whatever we envision to become, is something that we want ‘with all our being’, something that has a special meaning for us, the vision of which activates powerful, positive emotions inside us.
Neuroscience has proven that it is only then that the creative part of our mind is activated, the part that will lead us to the implementation of the vision, that will help us overcome all the obstacles. Even if it sounds unbelievable, this quality (to visualize your point B ‘with your whole being’) is a skill that can be learnt provided that you know how to. Keep following our post to exercise the 1st key of the Q-Mind’s in the next few weeks.
Exercise:
In the exercise of the previous post, instead of depicting ‘the problem to solve’, write down -with precision and only in a positive way, avoiding words like: no, not, without, or any negative word- your ‘Point B’, the destination you want to reach to.
To make sure you draw a full picture of it, write down:
What you will be thinking,
how you will be feeling,
how you will look, sound and feel to others.
What will be your attitude, your behaviors,
what you will be doing differently.
How you will be interacting with others.
What will be the end-results in the various parts of your life.
How will these make you feel.
