Building trust in a team over time is not a matter of chance but a common goal which requires deliberate focus and systematic effort. In order to achieve this goal, team members need to be willing to participate in open discussions so as to :

1. understand and accept the different perceptional and emotional ‘filters’ of their teammates as well as the way this affects effective communication between one another

2. agree what are the commonly accepted, specific behaviors which enable trust to be built in the team

3. decide what would be the specific ways through which these behaviors are encouraged and what would be the ‘red’ lines of acceptance for any team member
