Can the uncoachable be coached ?

What makes people ‘uncoachable’? Well, in theory all mentally healthy people can be coached unless they lack one or more of the following :

1. Willingness to change or develop themselves

2. Willingness to fully assume responsibility for the above

3. Openness in new perspectives & ideas.

So if a coach observes that the 3 above requirements are met and the coachee still seems to be ‘uncoachable’, then maybe it’s the coach who needs to check himself first ! Or just accept that he/she is not the one who can ‘unlock’ the coachee. But what if a coachee lacks one of the 3? Should then the coach just quit the effort ?

Let’s see some examples :

If s person is not willing to change due to a lack of consciousness that there might be alternative choices, then may be it’s worth to try opening this window.

If the person does not realize that she ‘s not assuming her own responsibility or how this is linked with her current choices, may be it’s worth to try helping her raise this awareness.

On the other hand, only life itself can bring people at a stage where they can be really open to new perspectives and adopt new ideas . Coaching can be so valuable and powerful but can it be as powerful as life?
