Change only comes from the inside and it is possible for anyone committed to it. Then why do people and companies find it difficult to change?
Neuroscience has proven that this is because of the ‘pain’ that the brain experiences in the process of creating new neurons. A pain that may come out to people as fatigue, headaches or even a sense of weakness or frustration.
There are two ‘medicines’ that can help us overcome this pain:
the first one is the ‘PAIN’ of the existing situation. For companies, this may well be the struggle for survival! If this ‘pain ‘ feels harder than the pain of change, it can PUSH us forward to change.
The second one is the power of our VISION for the future. If the picture of what we need to become is clear and strong enough, it PULLS us forward despite the pain.
As leaders, it is important to define the nature of your company’s driver of change (pain or vision) and use it accordingly to make the change happen!
