An HBR study on 2015 proved beyond any doubt, that emotions constitute THE most powerful, pervasive and predictable driver of decision-making in Business.
Non-conscious managers are unaware of their ‘negative’ emotions or just tend to ignore them, therefore often resulting in poor decision-making based on fear, stress etc.
Here an easy trick to improve decision-making: You first must replace the fear or stress with the positive emotion that you have when you accomplish your goals, or even better, when you are aligned with your purpose.
Here ‘s how you do this:
First work on your purpose, your personal ‘why’ and link your business goals with it.
Secondly, you “anchor” the positive emotion brought by ‘visualizing’ (fantasizing) that you accomplish your purpose and goals. You do this by employing all senses and focusing on feelings and emotions brought ahead.
Thirdly, consciously recall this positive emotion as often as possible, especially right before you evaluate your decision options.
This will automatically (subconsciously) ‘filter’ your decision through the focused lenses of your purpose and goals.
