How to assess your team’s Readiness to Change in 5’

Are you wondering if your team is ready to change in order to become more efficient, effective, or able to face a new challenge?

Well, here’s a simple way to find out in 5 minutes:

Ask the following question and let the members of your team briefly write down their answer anonymously:

‘What specific thing can you commit that you -personally- will do differently as of today, in order to help your team change / be more efficient / face the x challenge?

If > 50% of your team members write down a relevant, specific and personal commitment, then the team is ready to change!

If more than 50% of the team writes down things which are

  • too vague or general
  • not measurable
  • depending on- or are conditional to- other people’s actions
  • actions required from others
  • ‘team’ or ‘company’ actions (wishful thinking)
  • things that they do already, or actions which are not relevant to their personal change,

then the team does not yet have the proper base to change, and needs coaching work to shift its people’s mindsets first.
